Nobody knows what an internship or job is going to be like when they accept it. You can hear from other people who have worked there what it's like, but you never really know until you start. Walking into the shop for my interview it was like walking into a fairytale. Dozens of beautiful dummy cakes were placed in every nook and cranny. I thought to myself "I'm going to be doing what I love". I was right. Every day I went to internship was a new surprise. From Circus themed 1st birthday cakes, Dungeon and Dragon cakes for adults, hundreds of baby shower cookies, First Communion cakes, and wedding favors, every day I knew I was going to be helping make someone's important day that much better. My favorite day though, was when I was told by Andrea to make some cupcakes of any flavor. At first I was nervous but after some encouraging I felt like a mad scientist in the corner with different bowls of batter mixing new flavors I had never tried before. At the end when they were all finished I remember looking down at all the flavors that the other interns/employees and I had made and feeling proud of the 8 different flavors we and made up on the spot in just a few short hours. During this internship I learned to feel more confident in my craft, hone my skills as well as learn new ones, and regain the creativeness I thought I had lost in the strict cookie cutter way of thinking we were taught in High School.
